About Anita

I am an immigrant. I am a woman of color. I am a parent. I have broken social-cultural brick walls to be able to live a life that I want on my terms. I am empathetic. I am kind. And I bring my lived experience, my felt experience and my knowledge to the counseling and coaching work I do.

I focus on the immigrant experience, grief, anxiety, sense of belonging, relationships, families, self-esteem, race-power-gender, career issues and trauma. Having navigated the corporate world, I bring a wealth of experience to help individuals not only survive the corporate structure but to be able to live a resilient and successful life within it.

I am training to be an integrative and humanistic counsellor with The Berne Institute, UK. I have a certificate in basic counselling skills. I have also been in personal therapy for 12 years.

How we will work together

I will use transactional analysis as a primary tool. I will also use tools such as meditation, visualization, journaling, rephrasing negative beliefs, psychoeducation and anything else that I may think is useful to you and will support you. We will also work a lot with feelings. We will negotiate and agree to goals that you want to accomplish with our sessions.

In each session, we will take a look at an experience or memory you bring. We will explore the experience together, what feelings it brought up, how you reacted, or the limiting beliefs you may be holding around this, and even the internal dialogue you have.

I believe that the relationship we build together is very important as this is the template that you can use in the outside world. I provide the safe space (psychologically and physically) for you to be able to set boundaries, tell me what is not working, accept compliments, work out grievances and more.
