Individuals

Clients come to us because they are having difficulties adjusting to life in Germany (see “Adjusting to Life in Germany”), or struggling with something at work, or facing challenges in a relationship … maybe with their parents, or a partner, and perhaps the partner has a different cultural or family or class background.

Or clients come to us because they are dissatisfied with their lives and want something to change, but not sure how to change, or even what exactly it is that needs to change.

Our goal is to help you get what you want, to change your life in the directions that are important for you, and to use your own experience and wisdom to get insights and develop solutions for yourself. We are optimistic when it comes to personal change – we believe that people can change – we have personally experienced some amazing changes in our lives and in the lives of our clients. (See “What Can I change in Therapy?”)

Couples

Couples come to us because they are experiencing conflicts in their relationship, and they are not able to talk with each in a productive way. Our goal is to help them communicate with each other without blame and without debating who is right or wrong, but instead to find solutions based on what they each want and don’t want in
the relationship. We work with all types of couples, regardless of the gender or sexual identities of the partners.

We use Cooperative Communication as a basic model for helping people in a relationship find ways to productively and successfully talk about difficult subjects: money, children, sex, other relationships they have, differences like culture and native language, and even ending the relationship. To get a feel for how couples can communicate cooperatively (or competitively!), you might want to look at the dialogues we created (Welcome to Cooperative Communication).

Groups

We lead counseling groups, where our clients can practice with others what they are learning in individual counseling and coaching. The group is also a great place to get support from other people who are on their journey to learn about and change their lives. People who are not clients but who want to experience group counseling and coaching are welcome to attend after a conversation with one of us to see if they are a “fit” for the group.

GROUP FOR MEN:  Cooper will be leading a support group for men on the evenings of 21.1, 12.2, and 25.2, and usually 2 times each month thereafter. Please contact Cooper if you are interested.

COUNSELING GROUP FOR WOMEN AND MEN. Cooper and his partner Tina will be leading a counseling group one time a month, from 10.30 to 14.00 on the following Saturdays: 10.1, 14.2, 14.3, 11.4, 9.5, and 6.6.  Please contact Cooper if you are interested.

Workshops

We lead workshops on Cooperative Communication, where individuals and couples can learn and practice simple and highly effective communication techniques. We limit the number of participants in our workshops to a maximum of 8, so that we can
work individually with you during the workshop.

WORKSHOP FOR COUPLES:  Cooper and his partner Tina will be leading a workshop for couples on the following Sundays from 10.00 to 14.00:  11.1, 15.2, 15.3, 12.4, 10.5, and 7.6.  Please contact Cooper if you are interested.
